JOINT PARTNERSHIPS

The CME Office has developed guidelines for conducting a CME activity with a non-accredited entity through a joint sponsorship arrangement. Regarding joint sponsorship, ACCME Policy 96-C-07 states "The accredited sponsor shall accept responsibility that the ACCME's Accreditation Policies and Procedures are met when educational activities are planned and presented in joint sponsorship with non-accredited sponsors. The accredited sponsor shall be able to show with written documentation that each such sponsored CME activity was planned and implemented in compliance with the ACCME's Accreditation Policies and Procedures".

The CME Office, as an ACCME accredited provider, is not allowed to jointly sponsor a program unless it is involved to some extent in course planning. The basic steps to be taken in order to do a joint sponsorship with the CME Office include:

  1. Obtain the application and related documents Word
  2. Submit application and application fee to the CME Office
  3. Implement the program
  4. Evaluate the program

For more detailed information about joint sponsorship, download our guidelines (PDF / Word), or contact the CME Office at (405) 271-2350, ext. 3.
